Minerals Planning – Coal and Energy

Heaton Planning provide minerals planning guidance and advice to a number of coal producing companies in the UK, successfully obtaining planning permission for new coal surface mine sites, extensions to existing coal surface mine sites and deep mine coal workings, and for the disposal of colliery spoil.  We have also obtained planning permission for a clean coal technology power station development and are currently in the process of securing permission for the required infrastructure to facilitate this.  Heaton Planning has also acted on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council in the project management and recommendation to Council members of a planning application for an underground gas storage facility.

In providing minerals planning guidance and advice for coal and related developments Heaton Planning pay full regard to the minerals planning guidance provided at the national level in Minerals Planning Guidance Note 3 (MPG3) ‘Coal and Colliery Spoil Disposal’ and in particular the tests set out in paragraph 8.
