Heaton Planning are very experienced in the planning for energy minerals, providing expert planning witness at appeal for surface mining of coal; gaining planning permission for both surface and deep mined coal; gaining planning permission for clean coal technology power station development. Heaton Planning has also acted on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council in the project management and recommendation to Council members of a planning application for an underground gas storage facility. Hatfield Power Park and Power Station, Doncaster
	Project Name: Hatfield Power Park and Power Station, Doncaster
Client: Coalpower Ltd

Heaton Planning was commisioned to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), to prepare and submit a planning application and environmental statement for colliery redevelopment, including mining operations, spoil disposal, a 430MW power station, industrial development and site reclamation.
Outcome: Granted Planning Permission. The Company are now in the process of securing consent for a larger power station

Butterwell Disposal Point, Northumberland
	Project Name: Butterwell Disposal Point, Northumberland
Client: UK Coal

Heaton Planning are commissioned to prepare and submit the planning application, supporting statement and Environmental Statement for the reclamation of Butterwell Disposal Point. The reclamation scheme seeks to secure the extraction of coal by surface mine methods.

Project Name: Long Moor Surface Mine, Leicestershire
Client: UK Coal
Project Manager: Simon Heaton
Heaton Planning was commissioned by UK Coal to provide planning evidence and act as overall project manager in their appeal against the refusal of planning permission to extract 725,000 tonnes of coal by surface mining methods, in Leicestershire. After obtaining approval from the Secretary of State an appeal was lodged by the County Council. It was taken to High Court and the appeal was overturned. Work has subsequently commenced.

Heaton Planning was commissioned to prepare and submit a planning application for the extension of underground workings of coal at Kellingley Colliery.

Case advisor/management in 2004-2006 for Lincolnshire County Council on Welton underground gas storage proposals.
