Waste Planning and Environmental Permit
In providing waste planning guidance and advice Heaton Planning pay full regard to the planning policy guidance provided at national level in Planning Policy Statement 10 (PPS10). The aim of PPS10 is moving the management of waste up the ‘waste hierarchy’ of reduction, reuse, recycling and composting, using waste as a source of energy, and only disposing as a last resort.
EU Mining Directive: mineral and waste operators need to be aware that the implementation of this Directive may have implications to their current operations and how they handle and treat mining waste arising from their quarrying activities. Dependant on the type of operations – existing sites/operations will have to apply to the Environment Agency for an Environmental Permit by either 30 December 2010 or 1 May 2011. All operators should submit an Extractive Materials Management Statement to the Environment Agency to verify the status of their operations.
