Job Summary

Heatons are seeking an experienced, professional landscape architect to join our busy team in Derby. Working closely with our planning and ecology teams, the successful candidate will take a lead role in managing and delivering projects and developing relationships with our existing and prospective clients. 

We provide our clients with the full range of landscape architecture services, including planning, assessment, design and management.

Established in 1999, Heatons are a client-focused planning, environment, and design consultancy with extensive experience in adding value to a range of development schemes.

Our team of experienced planners, landscape architects and ecologists work collaboratively with our network of specialist technical contacts to ensure our clients receive the highest quality service and advice.

We offer expertise for housing, employment and commercial uses as well as other forms of development, including the built heritage and natural environment, minerals and waste.

 Role responsibilities include:

  • Managing and carrying out desk and field-based landscape and visual baseline surveys;
  • Writing and reviewing landscape and visual assessments, reports, drawings and other deliverables;
  • Identifying mitigation and design opportunities (outline concepts through to detailed design, construction and planting specifications)
  • Managing the technical and financial performance of landscape projects; and
  • Interacting with project teams, clients and other stakeholders.

Minimum requirements:

  • LI Membership (Associate or Chartered status);
  • Relevant Undergraduate or Masters Degree;
  • Experience of working in a landscape-related job role in the public and / or private sector;
  • Experience of organising and undertaking field surveys;
  • Experience of producing a range of reports and providing landscape and visual advice to clients and stakeholders;
  • Experience of data processing and managing datasets;
  • Experience of using CAD and/or other relevant software to produce drawings and plans;
  • Full driving licence (and access to suitable vehicle).
